Let’s start with the kitchen;
Is there a dishwasher and/or garbage disposal? Are these items important to you?
Is there adequate room for food storage such as a pantry cupboard or a separate closet that can be used as a pantry.
Is there room for storing larger items such as roasting pans, a mixer, crock pot etc.?
Are there drawers for silverware, kitchen utensils, food storage bags and plastic wrap, tea towels?
Is the refrigerator/freezer large enough?
Now let’s talk about closets;
Is there a coat closet?
How do the bedroom closets compare in size to those in your existing house?
Is there a linen closet? If not, you must consider that you will possibly have to store towels and sheets in your bedroom closet.
Where will you store the vacuum, ironing board, cleaning supplies, luggage, holiday décor?
Is there a shelf in the laundry area for detergent, fabric softener, etc.? Many places have stackable washer/dryer units with no option for storing supplies.
What about the function of the home?
If you had an office in your previous home, will you have a designated space for that in the new home? Where will you store important papers, office supplies, write checks?
If you love plants and plan to move them with you, is there adequate space as well as sunlight?
If you have a pet, where will you store their food? Is there space for a bed or crate? Where will the litter box and/or food dishes go?
